Construction of Stupa

The great Stupa for which foundation stone was laid in Oct 2003, finally stands in all its splendor in the 'Bo Maluwa precinct on the temple ground almost completely built. Click here for more pictures .

The Stupa, which measures 11 meters in height and 7 meters in diameter, will be ceremoniously declared open by the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, the Hon. Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa on 29th May 2005. All devotees and well-wishers of the temple are welcome at this event.

Work on the project, as with most other projects at Dhammasarana, was carried out almost entirely by dedicated volunteers, at times working late into night. The temple committee expresses its grateful thanks to everyone who devoted time and effort on this meritorious task.

The opening ceremony on 29th May will bring to an end of another chapter in the progress of Dhamma Sarana Vihara.

These pictures were taken on the occasion of the hosting of the 'Koth Karella', consists of god's chamber, square and the base of the pinnacle to the summit of the Stupa on Monday 21st March 2005. Ven. Naotunne Vijitha, Ven Kobawaka Wimaladhamma and Ven Maligathenne Upasantha thero chanted prith at the auspicious time of 10.30 am. when the pinnacle was placed on Stupa.
